Travel Journal: New Zealand, Part 3

Part Three: From Wine Country to Hobbiton - North Island

I loved the South Island - more than you could possibly know. Though the North Island also holds a special place in my heart. There are snowy mountains (MOUNT DOOM!), but not quite to the extreme of the west coast of the South Island. There are hills upon hills and the greenest grass I've ever laid eyes on. Also... it's some of the best food I've ever eaten. Ever ever ever.

Napier is right on the coast and blesses itself with the presence of Zeffer Cider tasting room. Seriously... if you ever go to New Zealand, drink Zeffer's Apple Crumble Cider. You will not regret it. Taupo is home to a lake... Lake Taupo. Mount Doom is in view. And if you're like me, you'll experience an earthquake at 3 a.m. - my first experience of an earthquake. Beauty (it was only a 3.7, it's cool). Hobbiton was everything I dreamed it would be. Facts on facts on facts, seeing the movie and the world come to life before my eyes, and drinking cider in the Green Dragon Inn.

Check out the good times:

xx
