Travel Journal: New Zealand, Part 4

Part Four: From the tip of the North Island to the End

The last few days of the trip I have to say take the cake for me in terms of food. I don't know what it is with Paihia, Auckland, New Plymouth and Wellington ending us on the best meals of the trip, but...

I fell in love with Paihia and the areas surrounding it. On our first full day up north of the North Island, we drove to Cape Reinga, a lighthouse. The entire trip we'd been cold, and this day at this lighthouse, we were taking layers off. It was pure bliss. The sun was shining, we saw the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet, and chatted with some older New Zealand residents. Paihia also blessed us with a full rainbow, chickens by our car, a pod of 20 dolphins, hokey pokey ice cream, and an amazing hostel view (YHA, what's up?).

Auckland was full of drinking, laughing and chatting. New Plymouth graced us with a black sandy beach, myself falling on wet rocks and hurting my bum (but saving my camera!), Toy Story 4, and another gorgeous sunset. Wellington blessed us with a gorgeous partly cloudy day and bittersweet goodbyes.

Check out my last days in the most beautiful country:

xx
