Travel Journal: Southern California

This past weekend, I took a road trip with two of my best girlfriends to Southern California. Not everything went to plan, as the girl whose car we brought had to fly back home one day in, as she was feeling ill and needed medical attention. That left my other friend and I to spend the last two days driving around in the car that wasn't even ours.

It was sad that my one of the girls couldn't spend the whole weekend trip with us, but we decided to make the best of being in California anyway (if she couldn't, we had to for her).

The first day we drove to California (6-7 hour drive), ate dinner at a cute 'lil Italian place, bought and ate Sprinkle's ice cream, watched a movie back at the hotel, and went to sleep. The next morning, we dropped our friend off at the airport, then headed for the day at Huntington Beach. From around 11:45 a.m. to 8 o'clock at night, we were at the beach (#goals). Our third day we drove to downtown LA to wander inside The Broad art museum, ate lunch at a fancy 15-menu items place, and drove to Malibu. The weather in Malibu was a perfect 70-degree temperature (as we are used to 100-degree days in Arizona). We spent time on the beach and at the pier in this on-the-coast town. Once sunset started, my friend and I headed back to the car and on our way to dinner in Santa Monica. Wow, Santa Monica is a very trafficked area. Once finally finding parking, we were able to spend a good last dinner at a pizza place. Next morning, we packed up and headed home.

All in all, I'd say it was a pretty darn good trip. I wish my other friend could've been there for the last few days, but we still made the most of it and enjoyed our time. Until next time, California!
